Weight loss injections (Mounjaro)
Mounjaro
Mounjaro is a weekly injection for weight loss which can be self administered (e.g. in your tummy area.) It contains a medication called tirzepatide which works by regulating blood sugar levels and balancing energy levels. It can help reduce appetite and regulate cravings.
The active ingredient in Mounjaro is called tirzepatide.
Tirzepatide works on two different body receptors: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). There are other injections out there which work in a similar way (e.g. GLP1 analogues)
GLP-1 helps to regulate blood sugar levels, which results in making you feel less hungry and prevent cravings. It can also slow down the emptying of the stomach, which can make you feel full for longer.
GIP regulates energy balance in brain and fat cells, enhancing the GLP-1 effect of suppressing your appetite and improving sugar control.
